New Bars in Tanjong Pagar
Finders Keepers
Located in a shophouse on Craig Road, this laid-back little spot is part bottle shop and part industrial chic bar. Sporting concrete walls and smattering of wooden high- top tables, this is a great place to pop into after work for a glass of vino, premium whisky or chilled sake. Hip music adds to the vibe, and the bartenders are happy to help you pick out a selection either for drinking in or taking away. They also have a good selection of bar bites on offer.

It’s all about the micro-brews and ciders at Freehouse, a funky little space on the second floor of a shophouse on Boon Tat Street. The decor is pretty simple here with wooden stools and tables and whitewashed walls, but your focus will probably be on the huge whiteboard displaying the names of different ciders and beers above each of the 16 taps. The selections change regularly, so you can try new brews every time you go, and they have Asian-inspired pub grub to soak up the booze.

Gemmills
Brought to us by the same folks behind Moosehead and Maggie Joan’s, Gemmills is an intimate space hidden away on Gemmill Lane. Grab a seat at one of the marble-topped tables, order up a decently priced bottle of wine from Old World or New, and pair it with a platter of delicious cheeses and charcuterie, or a sandwich or tart. You could spend hours here sipping and chatting, or grab a quick glass and a bottle for takeaway.

Newly opened on the second floor of the Gan Clan heritage building, the same building that houses Flagship and Humpback, Gibson is a new cocktail bar and raw seafood joint brought to us by the owners of Sugarhall and Jigger & Pony. The vibe here is sexy and sophisticated with marble-topped tables and a bold bar backed by stained glass. You can choose from craft cocktails that range from the simple and straightforward to the fun and funky, as well as elegant bar snacks like multi-tiered seafood platters, freshly shucked oysters and ceviche.

If you’re looking for after-work rooftop drinks of the gin persuasion, Oxwell & Co has recently opened up a breezy space atop the fourth floor of their shophouse locale. The bartenders here pilfer fresh herbs and spices from the restaurant’s organic garden, and then use them to whip up enticing concoctions using Hendrick’s Gin as a base. You can also grab the same great bar bites that they offer at the bar downstairs.
