Healthy Eats around The Working Capitol

Everyone likes to eat healthy during their lunch hour but scouting for food that both tastes and leaves you feeling great can be tough. Here’s a roundup for our picks on where we go when we want to eat clean and feel satisfied.

Guac & Go

Just like the name suggests, this CBD cafe offers quick healthy meals like salads and wraps with the option to add their signature and delicious guacamoles. Our favourite quinoa dishes here include the Kale Quinoa Salad for two superfoods in one plus bread crumbs, apple slices and Braggs Amino Dressing, and the Quinoa with Poached Egg. You can also make your own salad bowl with offerings from the salad bar like quinoa, salmon, chickpeas, and avocado. Wash it all down with a cold-pressed juice, 48-hour cold brewed coffee, or nut milk.

Ninja Bowl

Ninja Bowl is touted as a new healthy spot in Duxton, and their menu certainly fits the bill. Japanese-style rice bowls with your choice of rice, quinoa, orzo or their own special Ninja rice topped with healthy fillings are the draw here, like their Tsukiji Bowl with tuna tataki, asparagus, edamame, pickled cucumber and tangy basil cherry tomatoes. However, they also have more decadent offerings, especially for brunch, like the Fancy French Toast with fig jam, honey, figs and grapes, or the Tonkotsu Spirit with Aburi char siew, smashed avocados, poached eggs and melted cheddar over toast.

Sprout Salad Bar

Healthy eating and creative concoctions go hand-in-hand at Sprout Salad Bar, a super little salad joint in the Duxton hood where you can get your fill of fresh veggies, proteins and healthy grains. The menu is divided into Salads (surprise, surprise) like the Truffled Portobello (grilled portobellos on baby spinach with cherry tomatoes and walnuts drizzled in a honey-lemon Dijon dressing), and Salad Bowls like the Japanese Salmon (salmon and avocado on buckwheat noodles with grilled pumpkin, tofu and a soy ginger and sesame sauce).

The Salad Corner

With three different locations in and around CBD, The Salad Corner makes it easy to eat healthy even when you’re on the go. The concept here is DIY salads with a range of tempting toppings to choose from, including chickpeas, beetroot, smoked salmon and Cajun chicken, as well as vibrant dressings like Thai sweet chilli, creamy Italian and honey and soy.
